For her first solo exhibition at Art First Projects, Liz Harrison has created a new series of small paintings: Aviary and Garden. They relate to the engaging installation piece in the second room, Perch, which consists of a tree wrought from welded copper piping, with plastic foliage through which spectral sparrows are projected onto the branches and the wall beyond. Their twittering birdsong evokes urban and rural spaces, and the imminent sense of loss threatening many species of plants and birds in our cities.
