The work of the last eighteen months traces the 'Journey of the Self to the Self'. A return to rigorous observation and drawing both from herself, reflected in the mirror, as well as working directly in nature, documenting a series of motifs which Zia weaves into the narrative of the paintings.

The female figures as portraits speak across the mute surface of the painted canvas.

Partou Zia is featured in the upcoming show Art Now Cornwall at Tate St. Ives (3rd Febuary - 13th May 2007).
