After graduating with a first-class Honours Degree in Fine Art at Edinburgh
College of Art in 1998, when she was also awarded the John Kinross
Scholar ship and the Maclean Watters Medal, Kate McCrickard travelled for
a period, before moving to New York. There she worked with the South
African publisher and print dealer David Krut in many different capacities
                    between 2001 and 2008.

                    She became gallery director of the David Krut Projects, New York, space;
she contributed as a writer for shows and publications, most notably on
the work of William Kentridge, and for the TAXI Art Book on Paul Stopforth,
as well as an exhibition catalogue on Gary Schneider.

In 2007, McCrickard and Krut curated an exhibition of prints by William
Kentridge, shown at the Edinburgh Festival. The in-depth essay by
McCrickard accompanying the exhibition provided a significant insight
                    into his creative practice.

In 2011, McCrickard wrote the illuminating catalogue essay, ‘Striptease’
for Eileen Cooper’s exhibition with Art First, Showing Off, on the occasion
of Cooper’s appointment as the first woman officer at the Royal Academy
in its 265 year history, becoming Keeper of the Schools.

In 2012 Tate Modern published a monograph on William Kentridge in their
Artist Series, written by Kate McCrickard. She has regularly contributed
essays and reviews to Print Quarterly, Art in Print, and the Art South Africa
quarterly, with subjects ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary.

Additional to her roles as a gallerist and writer, McCrickard is an accom -
plished artist in her own right. She had two solo exhibitions of her work
at David Krut Projects (DKP) in New York: Kid in 2013 and This is my Proper
                    Ground in 2015. 45
