From The Studio III: Book Works

Art First is delighted to present a study exhibition of extraordinary canvases and works on paper by Simon Morley, to coincide with his major show Messagerie at the Musee des Beaux-Arts, Dijon (6th May, 2010 – 3rd January, 2011).
The show at Art First will include works from Morley’s seminal English Series, as well as canvases from the 2009 exhibition The Rose Annual 1924 and new book-page compositions.
Both this and the Dijon exhibition continue Morley’s exploration of the visual nature of writing, and the relationship of art to wider cultural & historical contexts.
