From the woodlands of a carefully tended English country estate, Hunter has been granted the use of some magnificent windblown British timber to produce an astonishing array of new carved figures.
The paintings and sculpture destined for this exhibition converse with each other, taking new imagery that Hunter had been experimenting with in paintings last year and also exploring the sensual pleasures of the sculptures' extraordinary historic raw materials. We still glimpse the easy conversation that she has developed between ethnographic art and German Expressionism, but we also see a new response to the full physical beauty of the body.
